Tyrrell Hatton beats Jon Rahm to win LIV Golf Andalucia as Joaquin Niemann earns spot at The Open Championship

Tyrrell Hatton won his first tournament since becoming a father as he held off a charging Jon Rahm to take victory at LIV Golf Andalucia.

The Englishman was two shots clear going into Sunday's final round and mixed three bogeys with four birdies to finish 11-under for the tournament and earn his first LIV Golf title since 2024.

Hatton found crucial birdies on the 13th, 16th and 17th at Real Club Valderrama to finish two shots clear of Rahm barely two weeks after his wife Emily gave birth to a baby daughter.

Hatton, who missed the previous LIV event in Korea to attend the birth, said: "To be honest, I thought no matter how today went, I'm still going to be home tonight and I'll walk in to a crying newborn and I'll be doing nappies tonight.

"That was going to happen regardless. I'm really excited to get home to Emily and our little girl."

Rahm finished second on nine-under after a four-under-par 67 in the final round saw him surge up the leaderboard.

The Spaniard, who is a father of three, admitted he was happy to see Hatton deny him victory.

"Obviously, I had a fantastic week myself, and very happy for Tyrrell to have just become a father just over two weeks ago and having his little girl and being a proud girl dad.

"As good as he is, if someone is going to beat me, there's very few people I'll be happy for, and he's one of them.

"It was very well earned."

Hatton and Rahm both play on the same side in LIV Golf's team format and their efforts saw Legion XIII earn the team trophy and move up to second in the season standings.

Mexico's Abraham Ancer (-8) shot three-under in the final round to finish third, one shot clear of home favourite Sergio Garcia.

Joaquin Niemann (+3) was also celebrating after the tournament as he earned a place at The Open Championship, live on Your Site, next month.

LIV Golf offers a qualifying exemption to the top player in their standings who doesn't already have a spot.

Thomas Detry had been in pole position for much of the week, but a three-over-par final round saw him lose the position to Niemann on Sunday.
